If you've had no visits from the dead parakeet, they certainly aren't necessary. What they will add that can be a plus, is in many cases you'll find the goal post will stay up between touchdowns.. ...no half time / down time at all... which is cool if she can handle it or still wants it... and you want to put out the extra effort.
