What do you think "directing the offense and defense" means? Seems clear to me.

We all know about the meeting with Alleva, O, and the coordinators. That isn't the story. That is old news.

The alleged story is that Alleva is attending film sessions with O every Sunday and "directing the offense and defense from the background". Sounds exaggerated and a tad made up.

I think you're misinterpreting or overanalyzing? to a small extent. If Joe Alleva is telling the coaches who is in charge of the offense, how is that not "directing the offense" ? This seems pretty clear cut to me. Typically the HC makes those decisions in just about every program, not the AD.

in other words, the Head coach directs the offense and every area of the team, not the AD. If there was a meeting where Joe Alleva changed who is in charge of the offense, that is absolutely Alleva directing the offense... Hell, do you need him to show up on the sideline with a headset??

there are confirmed reports that Joe Alleva had a closed-door (aka behind the scenses) meeting and specifically changed the power structure of the offense and who is running it. This is not speculation or rumors anymore.

When you have to call in your boss to lay down the law with your own staff, that kind of news never gets old, and especially not within the workplace of said staff. Not saying anything you don't already know, though.
