Its not like that's how it's being remembered in this narrative. The value judgements and truth of the history isn't important to what I'm talking about. I'm explaining why there is such an emotional reaction to this statue thing, because it cuts at one of the legends the culture has spun into it's identity.

I understand why there is an emotional reaction. I'm explaining why it's an ignorant reaction.
