Confessions of a Dangerous Mind is my favorite of his movies, but don't sleep on Better Living Through Chemistry.

Like Moon, he was in almost every frame of this film, too. For a guy without leading man looks, funny teeth, kind of a silly look on his face a lot of the time, he can do whatever is asked - carry the whole film, steal it from its stars (Galaxy Quest), play Zaphod Beeblebrox (a character that literally only about 10 folks on Earth could pull off admirably), be in a completely serious film like Moon (in almost every frame), be in a tongue in cheek dramedy (Confessions) - play a villain you need to take a bath after watching (Green Mile).
He is not normally mentioned in the same breath as PSH, but he's definitely in that league - as good an actor as either PSH or Spacey and with, maybe, more range.
(ETA: And he went to school with Aisha Tyler - he should do a recurring role on Archer - he'd be fantastic.)
