I believe I read that there is a problem with the servers somewhere, and the check for update button is not actually doing anything. Said there should be a fix early in 18 for it. Of course, there is a high probability that I missed.

Sounds like the update universally makes the fingerprint censor slow to wake the phone, messes up swiping to unlock and to get rid of notifications, and drains the battery.
