Exactly my point brah. LSU Athletics isn't going to make the move to be a "basketball school" and risk losing that revenue stream. We are profitable BECAUSE of football.

Basketball and Baseball are the only two other sports who make a profit. All the rest lose money.

I completely understand that, and it seems the overwhelming response here thinks I suggested that basketball revenue would REPLACE football revenue. That's not what I'm saying. It clearly won't.

BUT - if you look at this from a business standpoint...have we been very good since 2011? No, not at all. We lose to Bama every year. Have our revenue numbers stayed about the same? Yes.

So why go after a top tier coach, when we can be middle of the pack, bring in the same cash, and start putting efforts to make our basketball program one of the elite ones in an already weak conference? As opposed to trying to compete in a conference where Bama will win every year?

It wasn't all that long ago that we beat them 5 or 6 straight times. And even more recently we beat them as often as they beat us. Then 21-0 happened.

Get over it. Bama is not invincible (though O will probably never beat them).

Your whole theory is based on the idea that Alleva doesn't even want to attempt to compete with Bama in football. I don't but it.

I think your irrational fear of Bama football may require some medication.

Everyone loses to Bama every year. If not for the McNeese game being cancelled in 2015, LSU would have had three 10-win seasons in that timeframe. There are a lot of schools that would love to have that kind of success.

LSU reported $22M in donations directly to the athletic department attributable to football for the 2016 fiscal year - that doesn't include TAF donations. You think that if LSU's program deteriorated to the point that we're barely making bowl games every year, that those contributions would only drop by a few million?
