I wouldn't put a vaping competition in the same bag as regressing as a society. While vaping is pretty gay, it's way wayyyyyy down there in terms of societal regressing.

I would put things like the government overstepping its boundaries, the willful and gross disregard for the fourth amendment, the obsession with Hollywood and material things, the destruction of the family, the throwing away of our Judeo-Christian values that this country is built on, etc. as signs that we are regressing as a society.
