I think you'd just have to work the battery issue into your routine.

I assume if you work out for 2 hours and you're on the phone half the time or streaming music over LTE the entire time, you're going to run it down. Even that may not be a big deal if you can then put it on the charger after. But if you're usually going to sync your playlists and just want to run phone-free (with the option of streaming music or taking calls if needed) I think it's probably worthwhile.

FYI the only experimenting I've done is walking the dog (without phone). About 30 minutes or so, made a 3 minute call over LTE (worked great), probably dropped a few percent but nothing significant.
