Why do people say things like "going up against an SEC defense" still? Florida's defense isn't better than Ohio State's, or Clemson's, or Penn State's, or FSU's etc. etc.
Yes the SEC has a lot of good defenses, but other leagues have some good players

The SEC Rant would shoot you to death if you say that. 
But yeah, The is notion that the conference is so far ahead than the others is no longer true

Yeah I wish they would stop that. Ole Miss, A&M, Mississippi State, Missouri, etc.. all don't play "SEC defense".

Because a lot of people don't really know what they're watching and can't evaluate the teams at all so they have to piggyback other people's opinions. This leads to their opinion lagging behind the truth for a couple years when things change
SEC was down last year and the "SEC defenses" were nonexistent
