homeschool parent checking in.
i don't think most are wrong on this thread in their opinions on both sides.
we've met the homeschool kids you imagine with no social skills and try to use that as a reminder to keep our kids social. we keep them in sports, church, camps, everything humanly possible to make sure they have some social skills.
we enjoy having the time with them at this young age, but know how important it is for them to have a normal life.
our main complaint and why we went from public to homeschool was that my oldest was getting about 45 minutes a day of legit instruction and then sitting around the rest of it. at such a young age, i just think it's a waste of time to send them away for 8 hours and spend about an hour of it actually learning. that being said, they're both going back at 6th and 4th grade next year. basics are learned and i don't think there's anything that they'll be behind on.
we've had the opportunity to do a lot of fun stuff that kids their age would not be able to do. so no regrets.
