I thought I read on its wiki page that it's named after both St and Jr (grandfather and father). The grandfather was an early aviator who commanded an aircraft carrier in WWII. The father was a submariner who ended up as CINC PAC during the Vietnam war.

It's bullshite to name one ship after two men. At least call it the McCains, like the Sullivan's.
