OK Mr Technical, since the war was still going on 150 years ago I doubt the monuments were erected.

The Jim Crow era ran from the 1870's to the 1950's. Of course the monuments were erected in that "era". As to your knowledge of why/ intent, I don't see how you could possibly know that.

Because I've done a fair bit of reading the history of that period.
