Going or not is not a choice. You kind of have to go. I commute and it sucks. If there is somewhere decent to live close to where you work, live there. Commuting involves 3-4 departments, with badges and guns, that are instructed to write you as many tickets as possible.
There are a lot of welfare people in town.
Them being so poor will open you up to sexual predators. The cutest girls in town will be trying to get your baby batter in them. You will be the local equivalent of a pro athlete or rock star.
There is good hunting and fishing close.
Save the cash for retirement and bide your time to transfer to somewhere else.
