Keeping dogs from peeing/crapping on concrete?
My Dobie likes to use the concrete as her catch all, especially when it rains. She doesn't like to get her feet wet. And if it's raining, forget about it.
But for most dogs, reward them for urinating and defecating on the grass, i.e. make a big deal of it by using voice inflexion, praise and reward with a treat. Rinse and repeat. And always make it fun and positive.
Over time, you should notice a gradual improvement.
If not, you can use a "shake can" to startle them (while catching them in the act) and redirect them into the grass area by either using a leash or picking up your pup and placing him in the yard. And then praise and reward with a treat.
He'll start to associate the grass and using the bathroom as something that is positive.
Or so it should work like that.
