IMO, you go to T&C to lay on the beach and/or do water sports. There isn't really a night life and things are pretty spread out. In this respect I say you should go.
If you do go, on Thursday night they have a "fish fry" where a lot of the local restaurants and craftsmen gather in one place and you can sample things from all over the island.
