No I think communication is likely the culprit. You can work through some of those issues (finances, sex, parenting) so much better if you can effectively communicate with one another about it.

Usually goes like this:

Husband: She hasn't said anything was wrong, so I assume everything is just fine. I'm not a mind reader. She seems ok, she's sitting there quietly on her laptop. Since things are great, I'm gonna go play some golf today.


Wife: Can't he fricking tell that I'm upset. It's like he doesn't even care. He should know that I'm not happy. I've given him more than enough hints and clues. I'm here all upset over this and that fricker is going to go play golf right now??!!!
