I don't find Suarez has been disappointing. But I didn't have high expectations for him anyway. He's about right where I expected him.
I think Edwards is done. He's just a different cat. Does things that most drivers don't do.

Disappointing might be a bad word. I haven't been impressed with him is what I should have said, he usually runs in the 20's most races. Probably just rookie struggles but Edwards would be running much better. I have no doubt Suarez will start running better.

Smithfield went a little savage in their response...
Smithfield Foods Statement Regarding Richard Petty Motorsports:
“We are extremely disappointed that Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) has chosen to disparage Smithfield – its lead sponsor – after five years and tens of millions of dollars of unwavering financial support, despite years of subpar performance on the track. RPM’s claims of a ‘handshake deal’ to extend our sponsorship are unequivocally and patently false. Smithfield’s numerous discussions with RPM over the past several months focused exclusively around one issue: RPM’s inability to deliver on the track and the organization’s repeated failure to present a plan to address its lack of competiveness. Smithfield is a performance driven company and we demand performance from the people we do business with. For that reason – and that reason alone – Smithfield decided not to renew its contract with RPM when it expires at the end of this year. It is very unfortunate and disheartening that RPM has chosen to disseminate false statements regarding our communications to NASCAR fans who we have supported wholeheartedly with more than a $100 million investment in the sport over the last several years.”
– Kenneth M. Sullivan, President and Chief Executive Officer, Smithfield Foods, Inc.

Is it true Bubba is going to the #43?
Posted on 9/12/17 at 6:05 pm to Fus0623
I had heard that, Im pretty sure that Smithfield and Almirola are going to the 10 next year. Danica is out. Finally.

Jack Roush used to be the king of finding young drivers, but that was when he was also running Trans-Am and IMSA GTO teams. He always had a stable of guys on hand. Hell a lot of NASCAR drivers got their start at Roush.

It's pretty alarming to see how sponsorship driven NASCAR is now. The team car to the fastest car in the garage may not be around next year because of that issue. Does this not bother anyone?

It bothers me that NASCAR is deaf to it's fans, and keeps fiddling with the on-track product.

I wish Brian France were Bill France III. And Didn't change anything his dad and grandpa did
Posted on 9/12/17 at 6:27 pm to MikeHoncho47
The third generation is when a family business usually turns to shite. NASCAR is the France family business, and Brian is the third generation.

And he certainly has.

Pretty mind blowing how consistent this is.

I HATE SPONSORSHIP
Wow. The team car to the fastest car in the garage is shutting down. Sponsorship has become an epidemic.
NASCAR needs to do something. One of the hottest cars on the track will not exist next year. That's a problem.

Kenseth says he's not replacing Danica at Stewart-Haas. I really think it's gonna be Almirola.
Posted on 9/13/17 at 3:55 pm to tWildcat
And that is a problem to me. Several more deserving drivers and Smithfield is locked into Almirola. Don't see why Kenseth wouldn't be an option.
Posted on 9/13/17 at 3:57 pm to MikeHoncho47
It's all about the sponsors sadly. Kenseth would bring in better finishes but Almirola is the one with Smithfield. Almirola will produce the same results Danica did.

No, he'll be better. He won't be great, but he'll be better.

He may be marginally better but he'll just take a seat that someone else should be in. I'd be surprised if he regularly finishes in the top 15.
Posted on 9/13/17 at 6:53 pm to tWildcat
Better than he would do at RPM.

Reed Sorenson gonna have a full time ride next year?
