The city itself is beautiful with all the Adobe architecture, mountains and rolling hills, cleanliness, friendliness, etc.

It's a lot like New Orleans without the smell and crime. In the plaza area, it has a French Quarter feel to it.

planning a trip as we speak... i will be traveling with a 1 year old.

Probably going to fly in the ALBQ then drive to Taos and stay a couple nights then stay in Santa Fe a couple nights then ALBQ one night then fly back to BR

last weekend in OCT

I've said this for some time. Santa Barbara is right up there, but Santa Fe is incredible. True hidden gem.

Heh, don't underestimate the crime there. You certainly aren't going to get robbed, but there is a HUGE theft issue. Don't leave bikes on your racks on a car there, as they will be stolen. Also be careful when hiking in the area with leaving your valuables in car at trailhead.

That being said, I love Santa Fe, and we go often. I should put together a guide to Santa Fe eating and entertainment sometime, as I end up posting the same recs in just about every thread about the place.
