The state being what?? the government? If the government is broke that is good.
I see the state as the citizens in the state. You see it as the government just like JBE does. You want government preserved and expanding regardless of the cost to taxpayers.

By the way, he not going to bankrupt mom and pop business.
Yes sir that 10% sales tax in most parishes is a big plus to mom and pops. (When did mom and pops become something in need of special treatment?)

Agreed. But we the citizens are responsible for the government we get. You can blame feckless Republicans for voting for JBE over Vitter all you want. The ugly truth is that due to CONSTITUTIONAL spending restraints, the governor and the legislature are boxed in because so much is protected and MUST be funded appropriately. Therefore the problems are structral and any governor of either party will be faced with the same problems.
I don't see the Republicans in the legislature coming up with any real solutions other than raising sales taxes. You won't go for higher income taxes, you won't repeal the stupidity that is the homestead exemption (in its current form). The state cannot tax the oil and gas coming in from offshore.
You will say cut, but where? State film tax credits...great, all for it, but that is a pittance .
Call a fricking state Constitutional Convention, reform the tax code, scrap all these stupid amendments to the state Constitution.
Come on dude give specifics.....don't be like every other so called conservative Republican who talks in the abstract but really has no clue as to how to actually get things done.
