Well to be fair, not everyone understands sales in any shape or form. At all. Car salesmen have to deal with everyone from business executives to kids who barely have a pot to piss in and not enough brain to figure out which side of it actually holds the piss.
Reasonable people know that the dealership has to make money to stay open and they're going to make as much as they can. The issue I have with them is the car salesmen are often not very smart, not very knowledgeable about the product, and have shitty attitudes. The good ones know the product reasonably well, can read the customer reasonably well, and won't feed someone like me a massive pile of bullshite while negotiating.
When I get mad with them is when they start trying to keep me there. I'm going to make you, as the salesmen, make a decision on whether or not it's worth it to you to either take the margin/commission that I've put on the table, or keep the car while my money and I are still on the market elsewhere. It's fricking simple. You think you'll get more for it? Good, go get it. Call me back if you change your mind. Simple as that. That is the single decision that you as a car salesmen ever have to make. fricking make it and let's both move on. I go try to find another car, you go try to find another customer.
