It was an enjoyable read, but definitely came across as a very early Crichton work. Easily my favorite author, and I've read just about everything he has written. His books tend to have a very detailed science angle that make it obvious that he heavily researched the subject matter. Not saying he didn't here, but due to the nature of the story it is research more of a biographical nature. Still enjoyed it - I've been slogging through books lately because I just haven't been sucked in by anything I've been reading, but this is the first book in a while that I went through quickly. I just wouldn't have pegged it for a Crichton book if I didn't know going in that it was his - whereas usually his stuff is readily identifiable. Being published posthumously, I wouldn't doubt if someone else wrote it based off of notes he had written for a project, though they didn't give any indication that this was the case.
