Red tint could be rust which may have been stirred up by the "burping". Maybe a thermostat going bad. Maybe not completely closed but not opening to fully let flow happen.

Don't thermostats typically go bad in the open position?

I'm hoping it is something simple like that, and not a bad radiator or engine block. I already ordered a radiator cap the other day, it just hasn't come in yet. I had been driving it easy and keeping an eye on things, and all of a sudden this morning it jumped up in temp. Like I said, I'm seeing no leaks so hopefully the radiator is fine. Just dropped it off at a mechanic and I'll know something soon.
