Hopefully you never break a leg. Are medical bills discharged in bankruptcy?
I haven't broken a leg but I did get hospitalized for 3 days. I participate in a medical sharing program and I negotiated the bill with the hospital one I left. I had excellent care, the bill got paid, and I didn't need insurance or help from the government to do it.
Also, Is BamaATL male or female?

Irritating to have to explain something again to shitheads that can't read one fricking page of posts before they reask a question

This is the shittiest of philosophies and I'm glad it's only shared by a tiny part of the population.
Why? Life is not fair and a lot of us are dealt a tough hand. I give a large part of my income to charities to help people and if everyone did as I did we would not be having these conversations about ACA. It would not be needed.
With that being said, it is not right to force someone to give to charity. Paying taxes for infrastructure, defense, SS and even MediCare is not wrong. You benefit from those and makes society better. Forcing people into covering medical expenses for people who cannot afford is wrong. It can be a choice, but it should not be a requirement.

Hopefully you never break a leg.
His parents drove him to their family doctor, who set it and put it in a plaster cast. Took him a few weeks to recover, but when he got the cast off he was back on the playground just as before.
I don't know exactly what his family had to pay, but I'm pretty sure they didn't have to go into debt. I imagine they paid cash up front, probably less than $50 (bear in mind, routine childbirth, including five days in the hospital, cost around $200 at the time).

Yeah.. break something now, and it's pretty much surgery. Or at least that's what the ortho told me. Unless it's very very basic. Cast only gets you immobile until they can operate. He said standard of care is different now that it used to be.

I think you should go down the road of a want, he went old school left and said if you don't have insurance you die.
You guys should always scare them with death. Death gets votes, old people dying in the shelters gets lots of votes. Crippled children dying in the streets is the gold standard.

ER Visit, xray, diagnosis, casting, discharge, referral to ortho, repeat x ray, schedule surgery, labs for surgery, consult, surgery center, anesthesia, device rep...followup with addtl xray, therapy, then discharge.
Everyone gets a slice, and everyone wants to know why it healthcare is expensive

I agree and while this may be true for those who have commercial insurance and choose to go along with all that without verifying its medical necessity, I don't. When you are a cash paying, fee-for-service individual, they don't make you do a bunch of crap just so they can bill you for it. I ask the cost and price compare everything I can before I buy it, ESPECIALLY when it comes to my health care. For example, a prescription cost can vary widely between 2 pharmacies that are right next door to one another. Getting a cavity filled can be vastly more expensive at Dentist X than it is at Dentist Y.
