There are a lot of technical aspects in the field of the arts from color theory and color psychology to sound recording and mixing.

Humans are very visually oriented and rarely choose a product based solely on specs. Every product you've ever purchased was drawn by a concept artist when it was being designed. Look around you and realize that nearly every object you see was designed with some level of aesthetics in mind. Shape, color, texture, etc.

Logos, web sites, user interface, every font, every color was chosen.

Can anyone do it? Yeah. Can anyone do it well? Not really.

Still think the arts aren't important?

No one said they aren't important. They just have nothing to do with the focus on hard sciences that the stem initiative is intending strengthen.

Your product development argument is asinine.
