I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. I'm in the camp of the wedding night, though I honestly came to that after marriage number 2 (still married - 25 years).

The women may be desire the man and be willing if pressed (even slightly) but may also want to wait until marriage. In this day and age, in particular, both parties usually have to really commit to the idea for it to work.
