Texas is miles ahead of LA in almost every aspect with respect to standard of living for a family. If my in-laws weren't here now, I'd relocate my family as well.

Nashville is also an intriguing area. LA has nothing to offer outside of the excellent cuisine and outdoors as far as I'm concerned. I can find stuff to do outdoors almost anywhere though. LA is leaving a terrible taste in my mouth with the constant budget shortfalls, shitty infrastructure, and increasing crime rates.

My sister moved herself and her 8 year old girl to Franklin in 2013, and she hasn't regretted it for a second. It would take a hefty sum to get her back down here.
