Is it so hard to post an excerpt?

quote:

A Sugar Land man is charged with aggravated sexual assault related to the "marriage" of a 14-year-old girl. The teen's mother was also arrested, accused of allowing the marriage. According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Steven Carty, 47, and Cherry Jamila Payton, 39, are behind bars on bonds of $100,000 and $10,000, respectively.

WTF? A black man willing to marry and be responsible? I don't see the problem here.

the disparity in their bond amounts annoys me.

its a very brief article, so its entirely possible that there are some hugely important facts missing that would put things in a different light, but based on this, her mom just served her own daughter up and knowingly allowed her to be raped.

jmo, but preying on the trust of your child and using that to hand a little girl over to a pedophile rapist is almost as bad as actually being the pedophile rapist. for that little girl the betrayal of trust could do more to shape her life, in a very negative way, than a single act of horrific abuse might have.
