True. And a lot of animals went extinct due to excess hunting back in the day. The passenger pigeon for example. They used to have contests to see who could kill the most. In order to be in contention for winning you had to shoot 30,000 or more pigeons.

shite, we hunted Great White sharks to near extinction after Jaws came out.
We know so much more now about how to preserve and save animal species than we did in the 70's, and exponentially more than we did 100 years ago.
Again, Teddy was pretty much the only guy doing this back then, and we know a lot of what we know about these animals because of that.
