I'm down with it. Let's start by abolishing the GI Bill and closing VA Hospitals.

What would the problem be?

Why does a veteran need to go to the VA for treatment? Wouldn't it make more sense to simply give them a card similar to Medicare that the doctor can use to then bill the Federal government?

The government owes benefits to those who served, and I don't mind spending the money for people who volunteer to put their lives on the line for mine. My problem with the way the VA is set up is that it is a burden on a great number of vets who don't live near a VA to have to travel when they need care. It's preposterous.

If you want the government out of education, then you have to stop payments to all individuals and organizations, like research universities and let the market provide for them.
