While I agree that is a debate that should have never needed to be had, I'm pretty sure photos were released that proved the media had completely made up that narrative and used pictures from completely different times in the day, IE showing Obama's crowd size from the time of the swearing in compared to Trump's crowd size hours before the swearing in, etc.

Also, if "crowd size" includes people watching on TV and streaming on the internet, it was in fact the most watched inauguration in history.
