Hall and Oates were considered "rock" artists to the point where their videos were among the first played on MTV before the Billie Jean controversy emerged-MTV a "rock video" TV channel

Disagree on Roth as a "great vocalist" although I loved his sound (and antics) and lived off Van Halen all through high school.
Agree on Rogers and Perry being at the top of the list.
Also agree and disagree with the one poster who said Daryle Hall. He's the best vocalist IMHO but at the same time he's not a "rock vocalist" IMHO.
Surprised no one's mentioned the Boston lead singer - at least honorable mention?
ETA: Also Mickey Thomas. Killer voice.
