So even if Lange is available for that 3rd game Friday you still go with Poche just because he hasn't pitched yet?

Yes, because you want Lange pitching game 1 of the championship series if at all possible. Considering in that position you have two games to win one, then you try and not pitch Lange twice before the championship series if you're not facing elimination.

Hell yeah. That would mean that we won the first two games, and now have to be beaten twice.

Poche is thrown out there versus the other teams ace, more than likely in a must win situation. We all know what Poche is capable of (good and bad), so if you win that game with Poche it's awesome. If you lose that game then you have Lange pitching Saturday, going up against their #2 or 3 pitcher. I like those odds.

Of course, another way to look at it is...throw Lange Friday no matter what and try to get that win so that he comes back for a possible game 3 of the championship series on Wednesday.

Saving him until Saturday would be asking a whole lot to get him to come back on Wednesday and pitch in the final game 3 if needed.

I wish they gave a little more time between the if needed Saturday game and the start of the championship series.

If you think about it though, every other team is in the same boat as us, and nobody outside of maybe Florida, has the horses that we have pitching.

No. It's to keep him available for game 1 of the championship series.
