Amazon has its own warehouse system of considerable size, and it understands the logistics business SO WELL that they manage to coordinate third party contractors to move most of their products around.
Amazon hired people from FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc to break into the logistics and transportation business a couple years ago. So they know what they're doing moreso than most.
