Enlow tweeted "Proud to be apart of the Minnesota Twins organization".....I'm hoping that doesn't mean he's gonna sign.
Enlow's slot value is ~750k, the Twins picked another HS pitcher ahead of him in Rd 2 (1.8 SV), and the Clemson pitcher behind him in Rd 4 (500k SV). The Clemson kid is a Jr which is leverage and he's proven himself at the D1 level. Enlow has had a Rd 1 projection on many mocks and the Twins had the opportunity to take him at the top of Rd2 with the #37 overall pick. Why didn't they? Had he been picked at #37, I'd agree that he'd be gone.
The negative nancy's are saying that everyone above Rd 10 is gone when they really don't know shite. The Twins 1st overall pick is getting FU money which simply means that "if" things don't work out in MLB, he may not have to worry about a job in the future. Rooker & Leach, as the 2nd and 3rd picks, would be getting 1.9/1.8m at SV which is life changing but definitely not FU money.

I don't think it's negative. It's just reality. Last year only 2 out of the 300+ picked in the top 10 rounds did not sign. That works out to a less than 1% chance if you base it solely on numbers from last year.
Add to that fact that the Twins have the largest bonus pool in the draft and will likely save some serious money on the #1 overall pick...Things don't look remotely good for Enlow to make it to campus. Further, it was the first pick of the second day, so the Twins had all night to work out a strategy and almost certainly wouldn't burn the pick on a risky proposition.
But, if coming to grips with the realities of the situation makes you a negative nancy, take Enlow's words on it...I'd rate it at extremely unlikely that he makes it to campus:
quote:
Enlow was playing golf at Pelican Point when his phone rang. A family adviser told him he had "a minute or so" to decide whether he wanted to sign with the Minnesota Twins.
quote:
When my adviser called, I called my dad. All of us got together on a call with the Twins. We worked it out right there.

The pick was slotted with an approximate value of $755,000, but a source told The Advocate that Enlow is in line to receive a bonus in the $2 million range. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported that a Twins official also valued the deal in the $2 million range. Enlow said he was on Hole No. 9 when the deal was done. The right-hander went on to play a total of 27 holes, content with his decision and even tweeting, “Proud to be apart of the Minnesota Twins organization. All glory to the man above.”
quote:
“We figured I would go somewhere in the third or fourth round and that I’d be in line to get some carryover money,” Enlow said. “That’s when a team takes money they save when they sign other guys for less than what they’re slotted for and they give it to other players.” Enlow fielded another call from the Twins later Tuesday. He said he hopes to sign soon.
