Hello all,
A friend of mine has asked me to build her a new computer as hers is reaching end of life especially running Vista. Her budget is $500 but I can go a little over.
Her needs are mostly browsing internet, paying bills and she does some very light stuff with her family and friends photo's using a lightweight microsoft photo software I've never heard of. I stumbled across this website this week and found this build LINK . I plan on adding the 1tb hd for storage which bumps the price to just under $550 which I think will ok with her but I'm asking y'all if this system will handle her needs or if anyone can offer a better build or recommendation it would be great. Thanks!

I think youve done well considering the budget.

Jeff, do you think the on board graphics will handle the little bit of photo editing she will do? It's years of vacation photos of family and friends just making slideshows and shite like that or invitations for family get togethers and parties.

You are considering dropping the zotac geforce 1050 ?
I dont know. I wouldnt do it. From what your post says... onboard might be able to handle what she needs. I dont really know though due to lack of experience.

You could probably get away with it. If all she does it add photos to slideshows. Thats just a guess though. Research that motherboard and see what others say.

Yeah the Zotech is optional for the build in that it goes over the $500 budget. I was reading the reviews of the MB on newegg and all the reviews make it sound like it could handle whatever her needs are and I could always upgrade it for her later on if she wants or needs. Thanks for your responses, I really appreciate it.

Check out pcpartpicker.com, or maximum pc for some build ideas within the budget given.

IMO the larger companies put together solid, good value budget machines these days and it's alot more convenient than building your own machine. For a gaming build I'd say do it yourself but otherwise I'd go with something like this:
Acer i5 7400 8gb ram 2tb hdd $450
You can throw a GPU into that box too if you'd like, and/or another 8 gig stick.
Faster, multi-core processor and ram are far more important than GPU for photo editing. Most photo editors, including Lightroom, don't even really utilize the GPU for performance increases at all. Photoshop can/does but even with Photoshop the CPU and ram generally have a more substantial impact.
