Salmon I have always considered you a reasonable poster, can you take a shot at this question, posted earlier in another thread.

We could make our own rules within the deal, no? I don't think we had to give China anything.
I'm fine with not liking the current deal set forth by Obama, but my whole contention is that it would have been better to try and negotiate at the table, rather than leave altogether.
