I bought this pup, he's only 6 months, because my son feel in love with duck hunting and we had high hopes. I did talk to the trainer again and he said he wasn't giving up. He was going to keep working with him but wanted me to be aware.
Hoping he's just slow to it.

Don't give up one him. I had one, the best duck dog i'll likely ever own, act gun shy at about the same age. he came around. The Water Dog (R. Wolters) book has some techniques on how to attempt to cure as I recall.
