I'm 40 and feel like training smarter in my late 30s allowed me to play as well as I ever have in sports (primary focus being basketball). Short term goals are to recover from a minor calf strain (which I've heard can linger) and play my best in our bball playoffs coming up in a few weeks. The best couple of teams have some guys much younger and athletic (big dunks in games) so it takes my absolute best just to compete.
Longer term goals are to stay healthy enough to play as many sports as I can into my 40s/50s/60s, such as tennis, volleyball, basketball (if possible), being able to sprint, etc. It's always a challenge with finding the balance between letting injuries heal but wanting to continue playing sports. Also need to focus on Achilles and ankle strength/flexibility after this injury recovers.
