I don't know much about this sort of thing, but are we to assume that the Saints, a billion dollar entity with million dollar athletes, and the best trainers money can buy are capable of doing things at a different level than the common man?
Can you point me in the direction of any sources that explain why this is improbable that he gained the weight properly?

I'm not saying he didn't gain it properly. I have no doubt he gained plenty muscle but I'm just saying it may not be all that beneficial. People think muscle gain results are always positive but given his position, athleticism and size that may not be the case.
