Come on. It's amazing how you will do backflips to make any stupid, crazy thing Trump says into something halfway reasonable, but now you take a friend of Comey's saying he was hoping to "blend in" as if it means Comey literally thought he could turn himself invisible.

Comey should have stuck with his first instinct and just not gone to this function, but he was absolutely right to try to keep his distance from Trump. Trump singling him out for a hug was a stupid move. He'd already been praising Comey torpedoing Clinton in the election, so singling him out like that was not a good look to people who were already worried if the head of the FBI was truly impartial.
