Here are some SEC only numbers
Year-- Avg AB-- R-- H-- 2B 3B HR BB SO--- SB-ATT
(2017).270 844- 137 228 42 2- 16- 99 156- 23-32
(2016).305 1044 185 318 48 8- 21 111 145- 40-60
After 25 games this is the comparison from 2016 to 2017. Keep in mind we have played 83% of our conference games to date. Last year's stats are based on 30 SEC games so the numbers are larger for that reason alone.
Notable differences:
Batting average 35 points lower than last year.
Runs- we averaged 6.17 runs/game last year.5.48 this year.
Hits 10.6/G last year 9.12/G this year
Doubles, homers, and walks close; triples higher in 2016.
Strikeouts-4.83/G last year, 6.24 this year.
Stolen Bases- 1.33/G in 2016, .92/G in 2017 and far fewer attempts.
RBIs weren't on the stat sheet I found so I looked that up-
RBIs 2017 126 or 5.04/G
RBIs 2106 164 or 5.47/G
There is no question or stats are down from last year in SEC play. .69 runs/G doesn't sound like much but it adds up over time.
Here is how we fared last year compared to this year in Conf. Games only
Cat. 2016 2017
Ave. 1st 5th
Runs 2nd 2nd
RBIs 2nd 2nd
Hits 3rd 3rd
Slg% 3rd 8th
OB% 1st 2nd
Doub 8th T4th
Trip T2 T8th
HRs 8th 11th
BBs 6th 5th
Ks 14th 14th (best in league)
SBs 1st 4th
Make of it as you wish, but we are obviously down across the board and the fans see this; however, compared to the league we aren't down that much.
