This, I cut a path in my lawn on the lowest possible setting, then came back through with the edger. Buried wire by hand, used rubber mallet to pack down every so often. Been going on 7 years now, still working...

Not a bad idea, but you have to bury the wire after yourself. The wire trencher does everything for you and they have to clean and maintain it after.
