I like you OP, you're an OLD Millennial like me. But I didn't like reading that long OP of you running down my state. Yes it is shitty and yes the wife and I have a pact that if any future flood/tornado/hurricane/fire WATEVER destroys our home again we will move out of state..But it is home and I cannot tell if you are from here or not. Can you clarify that? Where you born and raised in south la ? You made jokes about the things that our culture embraces and holds most sacred.

We are an industrial people that are blue collar at our roots. We are mostly all grandsons of poor rural farmers that had addresses of "FARM DISTRICT 6" These are not excuses, but just realities .

Making 100k - 150k alone in salary is plenty good enough in the baton rouge area I live in to have a perfectly good middle to upper middle class life style. Is that not where you are at in DC? OR is it that you are making 500k in dc living an upper class life as an early 30 something ? if so to you but you probably shouldn't come down here, it isn't for you. Move to another blue city where everyone in it is better than "those dumb rednecks"
