All of this, of course, began Sept. 25, when the school fired Miles and Cameron. Ensminger’s first action was a meeting with the offensive staff, assigning each member a duty. He put offensive line coach Jeff Grimes in charge of the running game and receivers coach Dameyune Craig over the passing game.

Eric Mateos, a graduate assistant, replaced Ensminger working with tight ends, and he handled goal line and short yardage, he said. Two other graduate assistants were put in charge of offensive packages geared for inside the 20-yard line and inside the 10-yard line.

Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke worked with Ensminger on the biggest change the staff made: incorporating the play-action pass. That’s something the program did not use enough with Miles and Cameron in charge of the unit, Ensminger indicated.
