Loomis said the story isn't all the way true that we were on the phone with him but it was to follow up on some questions we had.

Yup Loomis said as the pick was approaching and we realized he could fall they had a question on him they still wanted answered.

Usually all of that is done with pre draft (so I REALLY wonder what the question was) and they said they never had that situation happen before where they called a potential pick before we were on the clock.

It almost makes me think Foster really may have been off of our board and we called him to make it appear we wanted him so someone would jump us while another player fell.

Neither sounds more believable than the other, but it has to be one or the other.

I just find it a pretty big stretch they forgot to ask a question pre draft so important they had to call the guy before they were on the clock for an answer. It isn't like he was some obscure 6th round pick. All questions should have long been answered, especially with a guy as detail oriented as Payton.

Foster said they called and asked whether he was in Louisiana, Baton Rouge, he said no Miami and then they told him to put his girlfriend on the line.

Not sure why they would ask him if he was in Baton Rouge.

ETA - Fosters girlfriend is from Baton Rouge apparently
