I don't think his answer is BS at all. I am more than willing to go back to the campaign days and point out, in context, what he stated about NATO and compare that to the reality of what Stoltenberg stated.

President Trump in this press conference stated, in a jokingly manner, that it was no longer obsolete.

Its due to the fact that NATO countries started paying. With that, Trump indicated to those in NATO that if this continues, then we can move forward.
