You mentioned the F-22... the F-22 first came about in 1981. It wasn't introduced until 2005.

That's 24 years later.

Think of the crap they're probably working on right now that won't be introduced for another 25 years, and things that they are working on they may never become public.

One of the perks of my job is an invite to LMAir every year. The people and stories are truly amazing.

Regarding current tech, it's not difficult to research where OSD is sending money. And the massive push for hypersonics research should tell you something.
