I realize this thread has veered off topic somewhat, but back on topic, I agree with Lester here.
This kid isn't showing just occasional power when the wind is right. He is hitting no doubters to all fields. Looking at the mechanics of his swing, he's not accidentally running into the ball.
Someone brought up track record earlier in the thread. I seem to remember this kid's name winning HR contests as a sophomore in high school at Perfect Game. Bryce Harper type of stuff.
I've watched him in RF this year and wondered out loud how he ever was made to struggle at 1st base. He covers ground and has a cannon arm.
I've also seen him hit routine grounders that turn into bang-bang plays at first. I'm not a scout, but I hear they value some of these things, and that as a group, they have big enough egos to feel like they can fix some of the little things, but they can't fix whether a man can hit a ball close to 500 feet.
