Why is it so hard to get congressional approval for taking military action?

It's a terrible trend that seems to be the new normal. I'm mixed on if intervention was the right call considering the Russia threat, but at the same time, countries cannot be allowed to deploy chemical weapons, and their very existence is such a destabilized shite-hole is a threat to everyone.

With that said, my feelings on intervention aside, can we please get some adults into all areas of government that will actually respect the traditions and values set forth by our founders? It's sad only a few exist in our legislative branch, and now we see the President is going to continue the trend of utilizing his office as a kingship.

It is manifestly NOT in our constitutional design to request declarations of war for actions such as this.

you need to read the constitution where it pertains to the executive powers of the president.

Trump disagrees.

Did I say it was explicitly stated? With all due respect, call me crazy here, but with the implications of actions such as this, I do feel it good policy to get the input of our representatives.
