we don't have a clue why they chose to give him that superhuman ability.
we also don't know why the departure occurred. Or who "God" really was, or why he couldn't die as well.
Answering all of these things would make the show full on sci-fi. The point in this show was to be faintly sci fi, but to still feel real.
Much like religion, which this show is clearly playing at, some things you just have to accept without the facts.
Brilliant show.

it was a giant jab at Christianity, and probably religion in general. Religion truly sucks in those who are desperate.
It's certainly not. If anything it's giving Christianity credit. Kevin was a "messiah-like" person who was also flawed. Books were written about him and he gave people (albeit misguided) hope that helped them through difficult times and get to places they previously may have not. You can definitely say a lot of things about Christianity but more or less the story of Jesus gives people hope and teaches an overall good lesson. (Do unto others). If you think about it,, after all is said and done, The Story of Kevin (the book of kevin and nora) could inspire others the same way.
If anything it shows how fast things can get blown out of proportion and entire beliefs can be hinged on them, for better or worse.

This part for sure I agree with. Brilliant show.
